Mounts in D3 Baseball Finals


In the first inning Dillon Good slammed the door.

Then the Ephrata ace double-locked it.

Riding a fastball that seemingly generated as much heat as Tuesday’s high-80s temps in Hummelstown, Good shut down Cumberland Valley 1-0 on four hits to lead the Mountaineers to their first District Three title game and clinch the program’s first PIAA playoff berth.

Penn Manor sends Mounts to Seeding Match


DALLASTOWN -- Penn Manor's boys' volleyball team is headed back to the District Three Class AAA championship match, thanks to its serve and ability to play consistently enough that its semifinal opponent, Ephrata, could not make a run Wednesday night.

The Comets, the No. 2 seed, recorded a 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-16) sweep of the Mounts and will play Lancaster-Lebanon League and Section One foe Hempfield, the No. 1 seed, for the district title at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Dallastown High School.

Mounts Ousted in Semifinals


At precisely 6:58 p.m. Tuesday, right-hander Adam Schwartz uncoiled from his delivery and fired the first salvo in the latest installment of the Ephrata-Penn Manor baseball rivalry.

What followed over the next two-plus hours at Ephrata’s chilled War Memorial Field was a game that had a little bit of everything and was ultimately won by the Comets, 2-1, on a bases-loaded walk and a bases-loaded hit batsmen.

Ephrata gets past Lower Dauphin


Dillon Good pitched a strong game as third-seeded Ephrata defeated Lower Dauphin, 7-3, in the first round of the District Three Class AAAA baseball playoffs on Monday night at War Memorial Field.

The Mounts are now the highest seed remaining in the tournament, as No. 1 Hempfield and No. 2 Penn Manor bowed out on Monday.

Mounts into Semis


Lock-down pitching was the prevalent theme in Monday’s L-L baseball quarterfinal doubleheader at Manheim Township.

In the opener, aces Dillon Good of Ephrata and Mitch Long of Annville-Cleona matched each other pitch-for-pitch in a game that was won by the Mountaineers 3-0 and took just 95 minutes to complete.
