Mounts Make Quick Work of Barons


Getting back on track after a leg injury cost her her junior season, Ephrata senior striker Annie Slovak made participating in track & field a part of her program last spring.

Slovak got with the program Thursday night as the host Mountaineers took the first set in what may be a marathon with defending Section Two champion Manheim Central, 2-0.

Mounts topple Dutchmen


Since breaking its 52-game losing streak in Week Two of last season, Ephrata had gone 6-6 in the time since. While respectable, the Mounts were still looking for that kind of signature win that officially signals a turning of the corner.

They may have finally gotten it Friday night at home vs. Annville-Cleona.

Mounts blast Vikings


FREDERICKSBURG — After both teams suffered Week One blowout losses, Ephrata and Northern Lebanon were looking to answer some questions heading into Friday’s Lancaster- Lebanon League Section Three opener.

As it turned out, Ephrata seemed to have figured some things out while it was back to the drawing board for the Vikings.

Mounts tie with Eagles


Cocalico’s Aaron Weitzel sent shots high and wide of the Ephrata goal during Thursday’s nonleague boys soccer clash in Ephrata.

But with 6:49 left in regulation and his team trailing by one, the junior drew a foul in the box and buried the penalty kick, netting the equalizer in a 1-1 draw between the backyard rivals.

Lady Mounts come up short


WEST CHESTER — Possession is ninetenths of the law, in soccer as in life.

Pennridge possessed for nine-tenths of Tuesday’s PIAA 4A girls semifinal at West Chester East’s Zimmerman Stadium, advancing to Saturday’s championship match with a 1-0 decision over Ephrata.

The Rams (21-3-1) will face Suburban One Continental Conference neighbor Souderton for the title at Hersheypark Stadium in a 4:30 p.m. start.
