Lady Mounts advance at States

Kristen Homan scored off a free kick, giving Ephrata a 2-1 first-half lead that held up against Conestoga at West Chester East High School.

Homan’s high looping shot glanced off the hands of the Conestoga goalkeeper and in under the crossbar to break the 1-1 tie and send the Mounts (20-2-1) to Saturday’s Class 4A quarterfinals.

The District Three third seeds will meet District One fourth seed Penncrest (11-7-4), which defeated Williamsport 2-1 Tuesday, at a site and time to be determined.

Conestoga (19-2-2), the District One champ, got on the board first with a goal by Nia Scott at the 13-minute mark, but Maddie Root converted a penalty kick for Ephrata to tie it 1-1 at 17 minutes of the first half.
