Mounts take 15th seed in Districts

ImageAfter being shutout in the League Playoffs, the Lady Mounts soccer team was hoping to rebound in the District Playoffs. To earn that distinction the Lady Mounts were faced with a play-in game hosted by the Waynesboro Maidens. The Ephrata Mounts girls soccer team travelled two hours, but made the bus ride worthwhile with a convincing 6-1 victory over the Waynesboro Maidens.

The Lady Mounts came out firing in this one, led by Aly Goodman who scored two times in the first half, the first goal coming just 6 minutes into the contest.

Near the halfway point of the first half Goodman found the back of the net again, pushing the Mounts lead to 2-0.

With 2 minutes left in the first half Claire Wooley scored for the Mounts.

Arielle Gordon started the scoring in the second half, followed by Goodman's third goal which moved the Mounts to a 5-0 lead.

Waynesboro's Katie Sandifer finally answered the call for the Maidens sliding one past Merideth Weaver (11 saves) less then a minute after Goodman's goal, cutting the score to 5-1with 18 minutes left to play.

Nine minutes later though Leah Sipe scored, giving the Mounts their five goal lead back.

The Lady Mounts (13-5-0) now take over the #15 seed where they will play Wednesday May 16th versus the freshly crowned LL League Champion Conestoga Valley (13-4-0). The Maidens (17-3-0) saw their season come to a close. Wednesday's game versus the Buckskins is scheduled for 7:00 at Conestoga Valley.
