Lebanon defeats Mounts

Lebanon’s offense took control of the game and helped the visiting Cedars cruise to a 37-8 victory [boxscore] over Ephrata at War Memorial Field on Friday night.

Despite Ephrata showing a few glimmers of hope with its running game early, Lebanon would be the ones to strike first when it completed a long touchdown pass midway through the first quarter to get their offense momentum rolling.

Once the Cedars broke onto the scoreboard they seemed to fall into a rhythm, one that the Mounts were unable to figure out.

Lebanon would score five more times until Ephrata was finally able to punch in a score of its own in the fourth quarter, when Mounts running back Tyler Mentzer recovered his own fumble and was able to stretch the ball across the goal line to end the Lebanon shutout.

The Ephrata defense was unable to come up with a solution to the spread option of Lebanon and, as a result, it was gashed by the Cedars’ run game and air attack, with three passing touchdowns and three more on the ground.

Lebanon was able to exploit some miscues on the Ephrata secondary to key some big offensive plays that left the Mounts reeling the entire game.
