Zimmerman, Becker bow out of Districts


ImageJames Zimmerman (285) and Jared Becker (130) followed similar paths in the District Tournament yesterday. Unfortunately for both, that path led to a 2nd round consolation bracket elimination, ending both their seasons.

Becker faced New Oxford's Brandon Piper in the first round losing a tough decision 4-2, while Penn Manor's Mike Stover also narrowly defeated Zimmerman by a 4-3 score.

In the first round of the consolation bracket Becker handled Solanco's Alex Fisher defeating him 8-1. Meanwhile at heavyweight, Zimmerman pinned Gavin Kennedy of West York in 2:26.

In the 2nd round Justin Lapp (CV) pinned Becker in 1:28, while Zimmerman lost a decision to Mike Schrift of Muhlenberg 3-1.

The 2nd round losses ended the season for the Mounts. Becker finished the season with a 29-9 record, while Zimmerman finished 29-7. Blake Crowther, who failed to qualify for districts also had 29 wins for the Mounts going 29-10, and Jordan Becker had 28 wins on the season for the Mounts as well finishing at 28-9.
