Mounts compete in Hanover

ImageThis past weekend the wrestlers traveled to Hanover for the Hanover Duals. Already short at 103 and 140 the Mounts were in for a long day. Normal 125 pounder Mike Hanna was out due to illness and 215 pounder Zach Zimmerman was out due to injury. Both Jared Becker and Joel Yoder were fighting off injury and/or illness and were at well below 100%. They both made it through 3 of the 5 matches.

This meant that the Mounts were in for an extremely long day. Despite the difficulties that they were enduring the wrestlers still had positive attitudes and each wrestler went out and wrestled their hardest for all of their matches. Hanover 57-24, North Penn 53-24, Norristown 48-36, and Gettysburg 48-21 defeated the mounts. They did pick up their second win of the year by defeating Springfield Township 42-36.

On the day the Mounts were paced by Jordan Becker, 189, and James Zimmerman, HWT, both going 5-0 on the day. Becker picked up 5 more falls to push his season total to 11; his record now stands at 13-1. Zimmerman added 3 falls, a forfeit, and a decision to up his record to a perfect 10-0. Blake Crowther turned in a good day by going 4-1 and pushing his record to 12-4.

Rounding out the records for the day were: Mike Evans 3-2, Corey Horst 3-2, Jared Becker 1-2, Pat Baker 0-5, Jeremy Martin 0-5, David Belousov 1-4, Joel Yoder 2-1, and AJ Peters 2-3. The Mounts continue their season on Thursday night at Lampeter Strasburg for their first league contest.
