Lady Mounts rise above Crimson Tide

ImageDefensive Pressure gets the job done

A balanced offensive attack and defensive pressure produced another win for Ephrata.   Five players scored at least 6 points and the Mounts forced 25 Crimson Tide turnovers in an 52-42 win, their second in a row.

Down 9-8 early, the Mounts went on a 8-0 run without even allowing a Columbia shot attempt.  The Tide battled back to take a 24-22 lead, but soph Aly Goodman gave Ephrata (2-1) the lead for good when she drilled a three-pointer.

Goodman went on to lead the team with 13 points, while adding 4 assists and 6 steals.   Brynn Lyons added 10 points.

Christine Weaver chipped in with 9 points, 7 rebounds, and a career high 5 assists.   Arielle Gordon scored 8 while picking up 4 assists and 5 steals.

Columbia (0-3) was led by Tara Anspach's 18 points.

The Ephrata JV (1-0) started off their season strong, with a 41-25 win over the Columbia JV.   Melanie Andrew led the way with 10 points, while Alison Weaver collected 14 rebounds.  Jan Woolley added 7 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 steals for the Ephrata JV.
