Mounts fall to Trojans


Dajour Henderson and Collin Mailman each came up with a pair of touchdowns Friday night, and York Suburban ran away from visiting Ephrata, 38-6 [boxscore], in a nonleague matchup.

Mailman opened the scoring for Suburban (3-2) with 6:40 to play in the first quarter, taking a 14-yard catch from QB Tom Merkle. Mailman then ran for the two-point conversion, and Suburban hit the gas from there.

The Trojans powered in four more scores in the second quarter.

Henderson picked up two 23-yard TD runs, then Merkle and Mailman hooked up on the night’s big-ticket play, a 62-yard scoring strike. With 1:35 to go before halftime, Teague Hoffman added one more score, rumbling in from the 1. The Trojans also added a fourth quarter safety.

For the Mounts (0-5), quarterback Jerrad Malmer broke up the shutout, scoring from the 4 with 1:25 to go in the game. Malmer was 3 for 7 for 20 yards passing Friday, and led Ephrata’s ground game with 49 yards on 16 carries.

Henderson was Suburban’s top rusher, picking up 79 yards on six carries. Merkle finished 8 for 14 for 142 yards in the air.

The Mounts return to L-L Section Three action next Friday, hosting Annville-Cleona.
