Weekend Wrap Up


ImageThe Mounts soccer, field hockey and cross country teams were in action this weekend. The soccer team hosted Spring Grove, while the field hockey team travelled to the Susquehanna Township Tournament, and the cross country team competed in the Gettysburg Cross Country Invitational. ImageAfter playing to a 0-0 first half tie, the Mounts Tom Renko scored an unassisted goal one minute into the second half to give the Mounts all the scoring that they would need to top the Rockets. Ephrata had their chances out-shooting the Rockets 26-10, forcing Troy Stram to record 15 saves on the evening.

Mounts' goalie Josh Peifer recorded 5 saves for his third shutout on the season.

ImageThe girls field hockey team came out of the gate strong easily defeating Shippensburg 8-2 in the opening round of the Susquehanna Township Tournament. Scoring goals for the Lady Mounts were Kilee Rosenberry (2), Elly Rosati (2), Alison Weaver, Kelly Martin, Kendal Fletcher adn Emily Beamesderfer. With the heat coupled with a short bench, the Mounts knew they'd have their hands full in the second game. That game the Mounts ran into a tough Central Dauphin squad who turned back the Lady Mounts 3-0. The win kept Central Dauphin perfect on the season, with a record of 6-0.

ImageThe boys cross country team finished fifth out of 35 teams at the Gettysburg Cross Country Invitational. Senior Joe Kline led the way finishing 19th overall with a time of 17:46.15. Givi Palagashvili (24th), Andrew Reday (45th), Mickey Molchaney (77th), David Dukeman (80th), Austin Wealand (108th), Brendan MacNeal (145th), and Ryan Trella (159th) helped the Mounts to a high finish.

The girls team finished 11th out of 33 teams, and unfortunately lost the services of Dana Haas due to a tweaked hamstring. Ashley Smith led the way for the Lady Mounts finishing 27th with a time of 21:19.40. Also figuring in the scoring were; Kate Anderson (47th), Brynn Lyons (67th), Caitlin Davies (68th), Samantha Fink (93rd), Audrey Thorp (143rd), and Katie Dukeman (226th).
