Ephrata Girls improve to 10-1 with Sweep

ImageThe Ephrata cross country team enjoyed an excellent day Tuesday in a four-team meet held at Northern Lebanon.

In girls action, the Lady Mounts earned a clean sweep over the competition, defeating Hempfield (23-35), Lancaster Catholic (15-55) and the host Vikings (15-55) to improve to 10-1 on the season.

As for the Ephrata boys, the Mount defeated both Lancaster Catholic (25-30) and Northern Lebanon (19-37) while losing only to Hempfield (20-41).

Individually, Alicia Harbold captured firt place in the girl's race with a time of 20:15 and was one of five EHS runners to finish in the top 10. The others included: Byrnn Lyons (4th, 21:14); Amber Davies (5th, 21:15); Kelly Holst (6th, 21:23); Jaime Singer (7th, 21:28); and Sam Fink (9th, 21:50). Dana Haas (22:00) and Leah Sipe (22:38) finished 11th and 13th respectively.

On the boys' side, Givi Palagashvili was the top runner among the locals, placing third in the race with a time of 14:47. Brad Sweigart (6th, 18:03) was next for the Mounts, followed by Niraj Amin, who also cracked the top 10 with a time of 18:43. Jim Reddig placed 18th for the Mounts.
