Cross Country Round Up


“We want to do good this season and keep on going.”

Those were the words of Elizabethtown’s Jaycen Conrad.

Teammate Jackson Kay said, “it’s all about teamwork,” something he says hopes will take the Bears far.

Tuesday afternoon, those two and the rest of Elizabethtown’s boys cross country team sent out a strong message as they handled both Ephrata and Solanco.

Mules slip by Mounts in OT


As the clock wound down, with his team down a goal, Solanco girls soccer coach Matt Janssen encouraged the Golden Mules to keep pushing.

“You’re still in this!” he shouted.

“They have to believe it,” he said later, enjoying the feel of their 2-1 overtime victory over Ephrata in Lancaster-Lebanon League Section Two play. “And they do, and that’s the great thing about this team.”

Mounts Keep Right on Rolling


For the first time since 1995 the Ephrata Mountaineers are 4-0 in football.

Ephrata opened Lancaster- Lebanon League Section Three play with a convincing 55-29 victory over Solanco on Friday night in Quarryville.

The Mounts took advantage of three key mistakes by the Mules, scoring 17 points, broke a long kickoff turn for a touchdown and made a key defensive stand early in the second quarter that turned momentum their way.

Mounts Win Rivalry Rematch


They didn’t start the fire, but they sure did fan its flames.

The Ephrata and Elizabethtown girls volleyball teams rekindled their Lancaster-Lebanon League Section Two rivalry Tuesday night, with the visiting Mountaineers surviving a grueling fourth set to outlast the Bears 3-1.

Game scores for the match were 25-19, 23-25, 25-18 and 28-26. Trailing 23-19 in the fourth, the Mountaineers staged a hard-earned comeback to close out the match.
