Mounts in Unfamiliar Territory

Not all linescore zeroes are equal, and three goose eggs next to Ephrata’s name screamed volumes about the Mounts’ 2-1 loss to Cumberland Valley on Saturday.

The Mounts loaded the bases with no outs in the second inning. They loaded them again with one out in the third, and strung together three straight hits with one out in the fourth.

Total run output: zero.

Pioneers Snap Back

The Lampeter-Strasburg boys lacrosse team entered its game Friday two days removed from an upset loss to Conestoga Valley. The Pioneers were without their starting faceoff because of COVID-19 contact tracing — compounding challenges for a roster lacking in depth.

And they were on the road at unbeaten Ephrata, facing a Mountaineers team with three all-stars back from the 2019 squad that won the Lancaster-Lebanon League Section Two crown.

Aevidum has since become a nonprofit organization, with student groups at more than 500 schools across Pennsylvania and beyond.

Band of Brothers

There are two sets of brothers playing for the Ephrata boys tennis team this season.

While that means they have some obvious similarities, there are also some differences.

In addition to being brothers on the same team, each set includes one brother who is a senior and one who is a freshman.

But among the differences, Chase Wilson and younger brother Lance have played tennis all their life, while senior Adam Zimmerman and brother Caleb are relatively new to the sport.
