Central stuns Mounts


For Manheim Central's baseball team, it was a case of late-innings lightning.
 
Central, 16-5 and the Section Three runner-up, scored seven runs over its final two at-bats to stun Section Two champion Ephrata, 7-2, in the first game of a doubleheader at Township.

Ephrata Girls win Leagues!


It was the biggest mountain left to conquer, and the Ephrata girls' track and field team lived up to its nickname by finally scaling the highest local peak.
 
The Mountaineers captured their first L-L League Track and Field Championships title in school history Saturday.
 
"Holy smokes, didn't think it would happen,'' Ephrata coach John Keller said of winning the crown.

Comets take rugged win over Mounts


Ephrata and Penn Manor had already locked up berths in the Lancaster-Lebanon League boys' lacrosse playoffs.
 
That said, on paper, Thursday's game between the two rivals didn't mean a whole lot.

Streaks bump Mounts from Leagues


Ephrata failed to take advantage of a second opportunity.
 
In the nightcap of Wednesday's semifinal doubleheader at Hempfield, L-L regular-season champion Manheim Township got five goals from Tyler Karpinski and cruised to a 12-1 victory over defending L-L champion Ephrata.

Township dominates Ephrata


It may have been a while, but the memories were still fresh for Manheim Township's boys' lacrosse team.
 
It was a little under a year ago that Township had its Lancaster-Lebanon League championship hopes dashed by an 8-5 loss to Ephrata in the title game.
 
Time, it turns out, doesn't heal all wounds.
