Mounts named to All-Star Team


Section Two Champion Ephrata listed five First Team selections and 10 overall on the L-L Section Two team chosen by league coaches and released on Wednesday.

Catcher Colin Albright (SR, .292, 13 RBIs), infielder Nate Fassnacht (SO, .431, 1 HR, 12 RBIs, 4 2Bs, 9 stolen bases), outfielder Charlie Warden (SO, .414, 3 2Bs, 7 RBIs) and pitchers Austin Lowrey (JR, 4-0, 0.88 ERA, 15 Ks) and Morgan Stauffer (SR, 5-0, 1.29, 23 Ks) are First-Team choices.

Mountaineers infielder Chase Weik (SO), outfielder Brady Sipe (SR) and pitcher Gavilan Fogarty-Harnish (JR) have been named to the Second Team while infielder Bobby Nye (SR) and outfielder Josh Gehman (SR) are Honorable Mention choices.

Hempfield eliminates Mounts


Hempfield is back to where it had hoped to be all spring, back to where the Black Knights believe they belong:

The L-L League championship game.

Alec Miller pitched a complete game Tuesday night at chilly War Memorial Field and Hempfield scored four runs with two outs in the top of the seventh inning to down Ephrata, 5-1, in a semifinal that was much closer than the final score.

Lancaster Catholic Leads Mounts


NOTE: This game is scheduled to be completed on Monday May 12th at 4:00 PM.

Reaching as high as 95 mph on the radar gun with his blazing fastball, Lancaster Catholic right-hander Willie Burger struck out the side in the first two innings and limited Ephrata to one hit over three frames as the Crusaders claimed a 3-0 lead in a suspended L-L baseball quarterfinal late Saturday afternoon at Ephrata’s War Memorial Field.

Mounts move onto Semifinals


Ephrata rallied late Monday afternoon, scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning capped by Brian Wentz's slide home, to secure a startling 6-5 comeback win over defending L-L baseball champion Lancaster Catholic in the resumption of Saturday’s suspended quarterfinal game at War Memorial Field.

Garden Spot eliminates Mounts


The second sets in both Lancaster-Lebanon Boys’ Volleyball League quarterfinal matches were critical Friday night.

In each, the team that had lost the first set, Cocalico and Ephrata, had late second set leads, threatening to square the match.
