Lady Mounts Achieve Goal
- 26 October 2022
The Ephrata girls volleyball team had a series of goals to start the season.
Two of them were obvious: Win a section title and earn a berth in states.
The third goal? Perhaps a little less obvious.

Ephrata’s Senior Night at War Memorial Field proved to be memorable in more than one way on Friday night.
Playing his last game at home, Andre Weidman (148 yards, four touchdowns) eclipsed the 3,000 yard mark in rushing, a standard that could be around the program for a long time.
By admission, Ephrata senior midfielder Kiersten Doutt has been pretty sick this week. It’s something, she shared, that has been going around Ephrata.
Saturday morning she rallied to rally the Section Two champion Mountaineers (14-4) to a 2-1, double- overtime victory over Cocalico in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Lancaster- Lebanon League girls soccer playoffs. She scored a pair of goals, her 14th and 15th of the year, in the 72nd and 107th minutes, to turn back a determined effort by the Eagles, who had topped Ephrata 3-2 Wednesday in a nonleague contest.
The teams were even and the field of play was wide open in the first of two Lancaster-Lebanon League girls soccer semifinals Tuesday night at Lancaster Catholic High School.
Olivia Shertzer had a goal and two assists, a stout Warwick defense held true and the Warriors outlasted Ephrata 3-1 to advance to the L-L final slated for Thursday evening at Warwick.
ELVERSON — Andre Weidman continued his hot streak and rumbled for 185 yards and three touchdowns as Ephrata defeated Twin Valley 35-15 Friday night in an important Lancaster-Lebanon League Section Three showdown at Elverson.
