Tide rises on Mounts


Quarterback Kyle Warfel threw a pair of touchdown passes and running back Jason Price rumbled for 142 yards on 19 carries to lead host Columbia to a 35-7 [box score] victory Friday night.

The Crimson Tide (1-2 Section Three, 2-5 overall) picked up their first Section Three win of the season, scoring touchdowns on four of their first five drives to take a 28-0 lead into halftime against winless Ephrata (0-3, 0-7).

Mounts Get Job Done


The Ephrata’s boys’ soccer team controlled their own destiny Wednesday night on their home field, where they came from behind for a 2-1 victory over Garden Spot to secure Section Two’s third and final berth for the L-L League playoffs, which begin Saturday.

Trailing 1-0 after Spot’s Raine Slovak scored in the 34th minute, Ephrata netted a pair of goals in the match’s final 17 minutes to pull out the win.

Dutchmen drop Mounts


Annville-Cleona seized the lead on its first play from scrimmage, a 62 yard touchdown run from Cameron Hoch, and ran past Ephrata (0-3 L-L, 0-6 overall) to capture its fifth win of the season, exceeding last year’s total.

The 37-0 win [boxscore] keeps the Little Dutchmen (3-0, 5-1) perfect in Section Three and sets up a key game in the title race with Northern Lebanon in two weeks.

Moore, Mounts take down Eagles

Everything was in place for the Ephrata girls soccer team Monday night.

Taylor Moore's putaway in the 21st minute was the only marker of the match as the Mounts defeated visiting Cocalico 1-0.

Mounts draw with Barons


Manheim Central and Ephrata were two L-L Section Two boys’ soccer teams heading in different directions coming into Monday evening’s match.

The Barons (7-0-3 Section Two, 10-0-4 overall) were winners of five straight matches and chasing Elizabethtown (8-0-1, 10-1-1 entering Monday) for the top spot in Section Two.
