Ephrata Girls record first LL win


ImageThe Lady Mounts lacrosse team saw a significant increase in the amount of players participating this season, and the added numbers have brought with it improvements in the field. After recording a non-league victory earlier this year, this year's squad has done what no previous team can claim.

It's been two years in the making, but the Ephrata Girls Lacrosse team finally has the monkey off it's back.

This past Friday afternoon (4/13) on the EMS field the team recorded it's first L-L League win since becoming a sanctioned PIAA girls varsity sport at Ephrata High School. the Lady Mounts came out strong against Cedar Crest leading by a score of 6-3 at the half. Each team scored seven goals in the second half, but Ephrata maintained the lead throughout the game winning by a score of 13-10.

Cedar Crest had 33 shots on goal to Ephrata's 25. Mounts goalie, Carly Reddig, had 15 saves for the day. Finding the back of the net for Ephrata was Morgan Hosler (5 goals, 2 assists), Kira Shelley (5 g, 2 a), Tony Rutt (1 g, 1 a), Jamie Gerhart and Hannah Hess.

In addition to Friday's contest, Ephrata also was in action Tuesday afternoon (4/17) at Lancaster Country Day where the host squad captured a 15-8 decision.

Shelley led the way for Ephrata with four goals on the day while Hosler added a pair of goals. Audrey Thorpe and Rutt connected on the other two Ephrata scores.
