Mounts Splinter Cedars


LEBANON — Ephrata had a lot on the line Friday night — a winning season and a morethan- theoretical shot at qualifying for the District Three playoffs.

For a half, the Mounts played like it. It was just enough.

Ephrata held off a Lebanon rally to defeat the Cedars 24-22 [boxscore] in a Lancaster- Lebanon League Section Three game at Alumni Stadium.

Mounts earn Playoff Berth


If playing tough in the clutch is one of the ingredients that goes into winning in the postseason, Ephrata’s girls volleyball team showed Thursday night that it has the potential to turn a set around.

The Mounts beat back a Manheim Central set point in the first set and came from behind after being down 23-19 in the second set on the way to winning those two sets by 26-24 scores.

Mounts Tie Bears


The relatively young sides for Elizabethtown and Ephrata gained valuable experience in their head-to-head clash Tuesday night.

They earned chances, picked up fouls and wore out their legs until they cramped.

What they didn’t earn was an edge in the Lancaster-Lebanon League standings, as the two front-runners in Section Two settled for a 1-1 stalemate through two overtimes at Elizabethtown.

Indians topple Mounts


The postgame analysis was pretty simple Friday night at War Memorial Field. Ephrata had five turnovers, while Donegal had zero.

Crusaders Motor Past Mounts


Devin Atkinson is not a wide receiver by trade.

So when the football ended up in the Lancaster Catholic defensive end’s hands early in the game Friday, he wasn’t exactly sure what to do with it.

“When I first caught it, I was like, ‘What am I supposed to do with this?’” Atkinson said, chuckling. “But then I started running.”
