Weidman Leads Mounts


Earlier in the week, when asked what he knew about Fleetwood, Ephrata coach Kris Miller had just four words to say: “We have to win.”

And Friday night at War Memorial Field, the Tigers, despite having lost their previous three, certainly made things interesting, especially in the second half. But each time Fleetwood quieted the home crowd, the Mounts had an answer, his name being Andre Weidman.

Bears Even Things Up


The Elizabethtown girls volleyball team handed Ephrata its first loss of the season Thursday night in Elizabethtown, sweeping the visiting Mountaineers 3-0.

Elizabethtown’s win avenges a five-set loss to the Mountaineers earlier in the season and forges a tie atop the Lancaster-Lebanon League Section Two standings with three league matches to play.

Game scores were 2519, 25-18 and 25-17, with E-town able to front-run for most of the match.

Bears drop Mounts


The motto, as one might expect, came from a senior captain. It was Dax Kelly who promised his teammates, “Our time is now.”

Elizabethtown has taken it to heart. The Bears are playing with confidence and urgency as the league schedule dwindles to a precious few games.

To make this moment theirs, they must win championships. That starts with Section Two.

E-town knocked off Ephrata 1-0 in a Lancaster-Lebanon League boys soccer game at Mountaineer Field Tuesday night.

Garden Spot Edges Mounts


The play has been tucked away in Garden Spot’s playbook for a few weeks. The coaching staff was waiting for the right moment to unveil it.

Tyler Hurst was also waiting. The 5-foot-10, 220-pound lineman usually spends his time opening holes and making tackles. This was a chance to influence the outcome in a different way.

Mounts hold off Blazers


BIRDSBORO — Red-zone struggles and missed opportunities plagued Daniel Boone on Friday night in a 28-20 Lancaster-Lebanon League Section Three loss to Ephrata at Brazinsky Field.

Boone (0-2 L-L, 1-4 overall) had bad memories of a similar scenario from the previous week against Garden Spot on its first drive when the Mountaineers (1-1, 3-2) stopped running back Ethan Kryman on a fourth-and goal at the 2-yard line.
