Soccer Playoffs Start Today


The LL Playoffs start today for both the boys and the girls teams.

You can start your day off by heading to Manheim Central [directions] where the girls team is in action at 4:00 against Hempfied

Then point your GPS [directions] to Comet Field where the boys team begins play at 7:45 vs Manheim Township.

The Lady Mounts (13-4-1), who finished third in Section II, will take on Section I champion Hempfield (14-3-0). Taylor Moore (15 goals, 7 assists), Brittany Lutz (9, 11), and Jenna Yarger (9, 5) carried the scoring load for the Mounts during the regular season, while Becca Gehman (.929 save %, 4 shutouts) has been incredible in goal. Don't discount Kay Liebl (3, 9) or Kasey Umana (6, 2) as they both factored in the Mounts success this year as well.

Marah Foltz (8, 7) and Maddie Schwartz (6, 1) pace the Black Knights attack, supported by Sammy Helgeson (6, 2) and Katie Goldsmith (4, 2). McKenna Zerbe (.667, 7) backstops the defense.

As for the boys soccer team (10-6-2), they also finished third in Section II, and will take on Section I champion Manheim Township (13-3-1). The Mounts attack often features Gavilan Fogarty-Harnish (0, 9) finding either Nikita Patrushev (6, 0) or Austin Sensenig (6, 0). While Aaron Cummings (4, 1) and Nick Russo (4, 1) have had success as well. Jimmy Hickey, with 104 saves, will look to keep the Blue Streaks out of the net.

For the Blue Streaks Andrew "Willie" Ransing (13, 6) and Lata Petros (7, 4) are the main scorers while Luis Arauz (4, 5), Kyle Lin (4, 3), Josh Tubay (4, 3), and Jordan Wallace (3, 5) all had more than 10 points (2 points for goals, 1 point for assists) on the season. Dylan Plank (35 saves) and Cole Beatty (16 saves) both saw time at goal keeper for the Blue Streaks.
