2006 Fall Dodgeball Tournament

EphrataMounts.com celebrated the third annual Dodgeball Tournament, crowning four champions for the Fall of 2006. Forty teams comprising of over 281 players came together to to have fun while raising money for Juvenile Diabetes.

The Tournament designed to raise money for Juvenile Diabetes raised over $15,000 profit nearly doubling the total raised last season.

The Champions of each circuit are listed below, but in my mind the real winners are the teams that raised more than the minimum required amount.

Five teams, Candy, Inc ($3,919.07), The Dodgers ($2,308.45), The Killer Bees ($1,315.00), The Natural Disasters ($1,260.00), and the Justice League ($1,021.00), all raised more then 1,000 dollars!! Other teams raising over $200 each were, The Gators, The Buckskins, The Skull Crushers, The Fireballs, and the Playground Legends.

For their efforts, both Candy, Inc. and the Dodgers will be presented a compilation DVD highlighting their tournament play. A new Junior High team will be awarded the DVD next year as Candy, Inc. graduates to the senior circuit.

Congratulations, and thanks to all that participated, and all that helped.

Senior Circuit wrap up

The Senior Circuit grew to 14 teams this year, and teams were placed in two pools of 7 teams each. "The Dodgers" dominated their pool going 7-0 in matches and only dropping 1 game to "The End". "The Therapists" (6-2, 14-6) earned the number one seed in the South Pool. But "The Playground Legends" defeated them 2-1 to make their third consecutive finals appearance. Waiting for them would be the returning champions "The Dodgers" (8-1, 17-4), however this was not meant to be their year on the court as the Playground Legends emerged with a 2 games to 1 victory. The victory gave the Playground Legends a record of 9-1, 18-6. The Dodgers advanced to the finals by turning back "The Lucky 7" (6-3, 14-7).

Junior Circuit wrap up

In the Junior Circuit the "Power Rangers" (7-1, 15-3) tasted defeat for the first time in two years at the hands of "Candy, Inc.". However they had enough left in the tank to defeat "Candy, Inc." (6-1, 13-4) in the finals to repeat as Junior Circuit Champions. It wasn't easy however as it required a third game that eventually went to overtime before they pulled out the 2 games to 1 victory. The junior circuit once again featured 15 teams this year placed into three pools of five teams. The "Natural Disasters" (5-2, 11-6) and the "Fightin' Nanas" (6-1, 12-4) also made semi-final appearances.

In the Rookie Circuit, from a field of four Elementary schools, the "Tigers" claimed victory. The "Tigers" layed claim to the only team to finish the tournament with an unblemished record. The "Tigers" went 5-0 dropping only 1 game along the way to cruise to their first championship, winning going away 2 games to 0.

Adult Circuit wrap up

The tournament held the second Adult bracket as teams from all across Lancaster County converged in the Ephrata High School gym. With one of the teams dropping out due to a Midget Football playoff game conflict. An All-Star team was voted on Saturday afternoon out of the Senior Circuit. Their inclusion was almost enough to shake things up as they stormed through the bracket and into the finals.

However the methodical play of "Demolition Dodgeball" (7-1, 15-3) proved to much to handle and the "All-Stars" (7-2, 15-8) bowed in the finals 2 games to 0. "House of Pizza" (4-4, 10-9) and the "Steel Curtain" (4-4, 12-9) also made it to the semi-finals.
